Right now, most people seeking asylum in the UK are banned from working, trapping them into poverty and leaving them unable to use their skills or rebuild their lives.
No money and no work means no way to make friends, to socialise or to find a structure here in the UK. This can lead to loneliness and mental health issues.
The system doesn’t make sense. It’s unjust and harmful.
But the House of Lords now has the chance to change that. By supporting key amendments to the government's deeply flawed Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill, they can help make the system more humane: starting by lifting the ban on work.
You can email and tell them: Back the right to work.
Together, let’s turn this broken bill into something that reflects dignity, fairness and humanity.
