Banning people seeking asylum from working makes no sense.
Lifting the ban would:
Save the Treasury £97.8 million per year
Mean people seeking asylum aren't forced to live on £5.66 per day
Improve the mental health of people seeking asylum and lessen their vulnerability to exploitation
Allow people seeking asylum to contribute to the coronavirus response
It's no surprise that it's backed by more than 240 charities, businesses, faith groups, unions and think tanks that form the Lift the Ban Coalition (as well as 71% of the public and 67% of business leaders).
We'd challenge anyone not to back our campaign in the face of this overwhelming evidence. Will you challenge your MP?
